Can AirPods connect to multiple Apple IDs?

If you want to be able to use your AirPods with multiple Apple IDs, this post will show you if it is possible and how you can do it.

You can use your AirPods with multiple Apple IDs by pairing your AirPods with the devices like normal. However, AirPods can only be paired with one iCloud account at a time and automatic switching won’t work between devices with different Apple IDs.

AirPods can connect to multiple devices because AirPods connect to the Bluetooth on that device.

However, AirPods come with additional features when paired with Apple devices and some of these features need the devices to use the same Apple ID such as automatic switching meaning that you may have to manually click on your AirPods when you need to connect them to a new device.

Can airpods connect to multiple Apple IDs?

You can connect your AirPods to as many Apple devices as you want even if they all have different Apple IDs. This is because AirPods connect to the device’s Bluetooth and does not need to be registered to work.

However, the automatic switching will not work and you will need to switch between the devices manually by clicking on your AirPods in the Bluetooth settings.

This is because the automatic switching actually uses iCloud to determine what device you are using.

This does come at a cost of course because it means that if someone steals your AirPods, they can reset them and you will not be able to do anything about it.

AirPods can only be connected to one iCloud at a time. However, you can reset the AirPods which will allow you to connect them to a new Apple IDs.

To use your AirPods with multiple Apple IDs all you need to do is to connect your AirPods to the device’s Bluetooth.

When you want to change what device they are paired with you have to click on the AirPods in the Bluetooth settings.

AirPods can’t be connected to multiple iCloud accounts at the same time.

However, you can quickly connect your AirPods to a different account by resetting your AirPods and connecting them to a device that is using the account you want to use.

Can airpods connect to multiple iPhones?

You can use your AirPods with multiple iPhones because the AirPods connect to the iPhone’s Bluetooth. If the iPhones use the same iCloud account, they should even be able to do automatic switching.

However, you may need to manually connect to your iPhone by clicking on your AirPods in the Bluetooth settings.

How do I transfer my AirPods to another Apple ID?

To transfer your AirPods to a new Apple ID for iCloud, all you need to do is to reset the AirPods and then pair them with a device that is using the Apple ID you want them to be paired with.

To do this do the following:

  1. Put the AirPods in the case and wait 30 seconds
  2. Open the lid and forget them on your devices
  3. Hold the button on the case for 15 seconds until the orange light appears
  4. Reconnect your AirPods to your device that is using the Apple ID you want to use

If you just want to be able to use automatic switching, it should only be necessary for you to connect your AirPods to devices that are using the same Apple ID

Are AirPods tied to Apple ID?

AirPods are not tied to Apple ID. AirPods can be used with any number of Apple IDs but they can only be paired with one iCloud account at a time which you can change by simply resetting your AirPods and reconnecting them.
