Can You Add Stand Hours on Apple Watch?

As an Apple Watch owner, I was recently frustrated to discover that there was no way to add Stand Hours to my Apple Watch. After doing some research and testing, I’m here to share how I solved this problem, as well as other solutions I discovered. In this blog post, I’ll explain how to add Stand Hours to your Apple Watch and how to make the most of this feature. So, if you’re wondering how to add Stand Hours to your Apple Watch.

Tips
To add Stand Hours manually on Apple Watch, use the Health App on your iPhone.
Your Apple Watch may not register stand hours due to various reasons such as not moving your arms, not standing long enough, calibration issues, software problems, and hardware issues.
Open the Health App on your iPhone, select “Show All Health Data”, select “Stand Minutes”, press “Add” and type in the number of minutes you want to add to your daily workout to manually add Stand Hours.

Is It Possible to Add Stand Hours on Apple Watch?

Ideally, Apple watches are designed to register your stand hours automatically as long as the motion sensors detect the activity for long enough.

However, if your Apple Watch is not capable of tracking your standing activity on its own, you can still log in standing time manually on the Apple Health App through your iPhone, as there’s no feature in the watch itself that can let you do that.

This feature makes it quite easy to register and add stand hours on your apple watch in the case that your watch didn’t register the activity automatically or if you’ve forgotten to wear your watch while working out.

Reasons Why Apple Watch May Not Register When You Stand

As previously mentioned, your Apple watch is supposed to track your standing hours automatically. However, there are several reasons why your Apple watch may end up not registering them.

If you’ve been wearing the watch while standing and it didn’t register, you should consider troubleshooting the problem to prevent it from happening again in the future. Here are some reasons why your Apple Watch may not register when you stand.

1. You’re Not Moving Your Arms

Apple Watches use an accelerometer in order to track that you’re standing. In fact, the Stand ring is designed to “show you the total hours in which you were standing and moving for longer than a minute”.

In other words, if you stood up but didn’t move your arms enough, the watch may not pick up that you’re standing.

2. You Didn’t Stand Up Long Enough

To avoid inaccurate readings and fluctuation in results, Apple Watches are designed to register that you have been standing only after continuously standing for 60 seconds.

If you stood up occasionally but for shorter periods of time, this time won’t be registered.

3. The Watch Isn’t in Contact with Your Wrist

To save battery, Apple watches don’t measure various aspects if it doesn’t detect your wrist. For that reason, if the watch isn’t in relatively firm contact with the wrist, it may not register your stand time.

4. Calibration Issues

If your Apple Watch isn’t calibrated properly, it’ll display a lot of inaccuracies while tracking your activity.

Luckily, all you have to do here is re-calibrate your Apple Watch in order to restore its ability to track your stand hours properly.

5. Software Problems

Despite how intricate an Apple Watch can be, technical issues are still bound to happen from time to time.

If your software version is outdated, tracking issues may appear, which you can solve by updating the watch to the latest firmware.

6. Hardware Issues

Lastly, if you’ve tried all previous solutions but the watch still doesn’t log in the stand hours automatically, there might be a hardware issue in one of the sensors responsible for tracking your movement and standing.

In that case, you should take your watch to the nearest Apple Service Center to be repaired.
