Can you charge AirPods with an 18w charger?

Can You Charge AirPods With an 18W Charger?

One of the most common questions is around the Apple AirPods and an 18W charger that you can get from Apple as well as third-party providers. Can you use an 18W charger with the Apple AirPods? The answer to that question is yes!

The Apple AirPods have a unique design in that they can work with chargers of a variety of wattages. Whether you are using an older charger with just 5W of power coming through or an 18W charger, you are going to have power flowing.  

If you have the Apple AirPods, there is no risk of having the higher wattage charger. You will not get much faster of a charge, as the case cannot accept the higher wattage, but it will still charge just fine.

Can You Charge AirPods Pro With an 18W Charger?

You can also charge your Apple AirPods Pro with an 18W charger. It is an ideal scenario to go with a charger that provides you with a higher wattage. This will allow you to have the most power flowing into the case and the earbuds at all times.

Can You Charge AirPods With a Fast Charger?

A fast charger is something you can use with your AirPods. You also have the option of using a Qi-certified charger for the earbuds and the case. With a fast charger, you are only going to get as much power into the Apple AirPods as the device allows.

A fast charger will not charge the original Apple AirPods as fast as it will charge the brand new Apple AirPods or Apple AirPod Pro devices. With a fast charger, though, you can power the case and the earbuds.  

Can I Charge AirPods With a 20W Charger?

Again, similar to the 18W charger, there is no trouble at all for the Apple AirPods to be charged with a 20W charger. This provides even more power than the 18W charger into the AirPods at once.

The Apple AirPods have a design where, even if the wattage coming in is very high, it will regulate it so that there is no overheating, no damage done, no harm at all to your favorite pair of headphones.

Can You Charge AirPods With a Regular Charger?

Believe it or not, you do not need a big and powerful charger to charge the Apple AirPods. An old-school lightning cable charger from a bit ago will do just fine in charging up your Apple AirPods.

The regular charger may take longer to get the case and the earbuds back to full battery health, but there will not be any problems at all in using a regular old charger for the AirPods or even the AirPod Pro devices.  

Is It OK to Charge AirPods With an iPhone Charger?

The Apple ecosystem is awesome in the flexibility that it provides. You can use the same iPhone charger that you have right along to charge up your iPad, and yes even your Apple AirPod device.

The iPhone charger will use the same charging cable and bring in the same wattage. The charging cable can be re-usable the other way as well. You can take your Apple AirPod charging cable and use it for the Apple iPhone device.

You have a lot of options when it comes to choosing a charging cable for your Apple AirPods. You can use a regular charger, your iPhone charger, an 18W charger, as well as a 20W charger.
