In this blog post, I’ll discuss how to deactivate stolen AirPods and prevent them from being used by someone else. I’ll also provide tips on how to keep your AirPods secure and what to do if you think your AirPods have been stolen.

It will not be possible for you to deactivate AirPods so that someone else is not able to use them in the event they are stolen.

If someone steals your AirPods, it will be possible for them to reset your AirPods. To do this they just need to put your AirPods in a case, open the lid and hold the button for 15 seconds.

Tips:

  • Once AirPods are reset, they will no longer update their location on Find My app.
  • Stolen AirPods can be used.

Can you deactivate stolen AirPods?

It is possible to reset stolen AirPods. All that is needed is to put them in an AirPods case and then hold on the power button for 15 seconds until the light flashes orange.

This does mean that, if someone steals your AirPods, it will be possible for them to reset your AirPods and there will not be much you can do about it.

Once the AirPods are reset, they will no longer update their location on your Find My app.

All that is needed is to put them into a case and then hold the power button for 15 seconds causing them to be reset and paired with that case.

Once this happens, the AirPods will be reset and disconnected from the iCloud account that they was paired with.
