As an AirPods owner, I’ve often found myself frustrated by the lack of security features available on my beloved wireless earbuds. To my dismay, I quickly discovered that AirPods are not equipped with a lock feature. But, I wasn’t ready to give up on keeping my AirPods safe just yet. After doing some research and testing out a few different solutions, I’m here to share what I discovered.
It is not possible to lock AirPods to a device. If someone steals your AirPods, they can put the AirPods in a case and reset your AirPods and there will not be anything you can do after that.

Can you lock Apple AirPods?
You cannot lock AirPods or AirPod Pros to one phone or device. If someone steals your AirPods, all they need do is to reset the AirPods and then they will be able to pair the AirPods with any device.
It will also be the case that they will get unpaired with your iCloud so it will not be possible to track them anymore through the “Find My” app.
This does mean that it is important to avoid losing your AirPods, to make sure not to be careless with them and that you should only allow people you trust to use your AirPods.
Can you password protect AirPods?
You cannot password protect AirPods. If someone steals your AirPods, there is not much you can do about it because they can simply reset your AirPods.
If they reset your AirPods, they will lose their connection with all of your devices and no longer be connected to your iCloud so won’t update their location on your “Find My” app.

There is not any way to password protect AirPods Pro. If someone steals your AirPods Pro, there will not be much you can do about it because the person will be able to reset your AirPods Pro with your case or with a different case.

It is not possible to stop other people from using your AirPods after they have taken your AirPods.
This is because they can simply reset your AirPods by putting them in a case, opening the lid then holding the button until the light is white on the case.
This means that care should be taken to make sure that you do not leave your AirPods lying around and that you do not put them into situations where they are easy to steal.
Can anyone connect to your AirPods?
It is only possible for a device to connect to AirPods when they are placed in their case, the lid is opened and the button on the case is pressed.
If someone takes your AirPods and the case, it will be possible for them to connect to your AirPods.
It is not possible for other people to connect to your AirPods while you are using them and they are not in pairing mode.
