As an AirPods owner, I was frustrated when I realized that I couldn’t get them to work with my Sony TV. After doing some research, I discovered that there are a few ways to connect AirPods to a Sony TV, so I wanted to share my findings with anyone else who might be in the same boat. In this blog post, I’ll be discussing what options are available to connect AirPods to a Sony TV, and other potential solutions to the problem.
- You can connect AirPods to a Sony TV through the Bluetooth settings section.
- You cannot adjust the volume of your AirPods from the Sony TV.
- You can only pair one set of AirPods to a Sony TV at a time.
- Some Sony TVs are not compatible with AirPods, your TV needs to feature Bluetooth.
Can I Listen to My Sony TV Using My AirPods?
Yes, you can listen to Sony TV using AirPods.
People enjoy watching television at all times of day, and for some of those, nighttime TV watching is their ideal situation.
That may be due to them working a night shift or graveyard shift and needing to unwind after work, or they may simply prefer sleeping later than most people.
However, one of the big problems with that is that, if you share a room or even a household with one or more other people, you need to be considerate of their right to have a good night’s sleep.
As any of us who have to sleep at unusual hours, we never like having to deal with the loudness of the world around us.
AirPods serve as a solid solution to that problem, as you are able to listen to what’s on your Sony TV through your Apple AirPods. This way, you don’t have to worry about your Netflix binge-watch session disturbing your partner.
Although if you are in the same room with the lights off, there is a good chance you may wake the other person up thanks to the light coming from the TV. Just remember to keep your situational awareness up!

How to connect AirPods to Sony TV?
The good news about connecting your AirPods to Sony’s line of smart TVs is that it is a simple process. If you can connect AirPods to anything, you should not have any problem figuring that out.
First thing’s first, make sure that your AirPods are discoverable and ready to be paired. This is done by placing your AirPods into the charging case they are paired with.
Once you have them in there, you then have to hold the setup button on the back of the charging case until the status light on the case turns white. At this point, they are now ready to be paired.
Once you have accomplished that, the next step is to do is to go to the Settings section of your Sony TV, and then navigate to Network and Accessories.
There, you will see a Bluetooth settings option. Once you’ve navigated into that option, you have to select “Add Device” and begin searching for discoverable devices.
If you have done the steps correctly, you will see your Apple AirPods on the list. Select that, and you should be able to use them with your Sony TV.

Can you adjust AirPods volume with Sony TV?
You can’t adjust the volume of AirPods through the Sony TV itself. You have to adjust the volume through your iPhone or through your Android phone.
Once you have your Apple AirPods connected to your Sony TV, the obvious question you would have is adjusting volume with and for your Apple AirPods.
The bad news is that, while your AirPods are connected to your Sony TV through Bluetooth, you cannot actually adjust how loud the volume is that comes through the AirPods.
In order to actually adjust your volume, make sure that your AirPods’ volume is set before you pair them with your Sony TV.
You can do this by adjusting the volume setting of your AirPods on your phone. While AirPods are designed to be paired with an iPhone or iPad, they can be used with Android phones to adjust volume settings just as well.
Can I connect multiple AirPods to my Sony TV?
A lot of people do have to be mindful of not waking up people in their house while watching TV, but that can be a bit lonely.
For those of you who like to watch television at night (or any other time when they do not want to bother other people in the house), having company is great too. But that creates the problem: can you connect multiple AirPods to your Sony TV, or do you need to just share one AirPod each with someone else?
The unfortunate news is that you will have to go with the latter if you want to watch with someone else while using AirPods. Sony TVs only allow for you to pair a maximum of one set of Bluetooth headphones, headsets, or pods.
Sony TVs are actually able to have multiple Bluetooth devices connected at the same time, but they specifically note that you can only have one device of this type at any one time, sadly. Your nighttime watching will have to continue being a lonely experience.
Why won’t my AirPods connect to my Sony TV?
While the process of pairing your Apple AirPods is by no means a difficult one, that does not mean that there are no potential issues to be found.
If you are having difficulties getting your Sony TV paired up with your Apple AirPods,
First, make sure that you have followed the steps to putting the AirPods into pairing mode, as described above. If that is not working, there are multiple things that may be causing this.
First off, if the light turns on, then ensure you are following the appropriate steps. If doing so has failed, there may be an issue with your Sony TV’s Bluetooth feature.
However, if you are having trouble getting your AirPods to work in pairing mode, or if you once had them connected, but they no longer are working, there are various things you can do to fix this.
The most common cause of AirPods not connecting or losing their connection to Sony TVs is that they simply have no charge. You can tell how much charge your AirPods have depending on the color of the light.
If the AirPods are placed in their case and are fully charged, the light on the case will be green. If they are out of the case and do not have a full charge, the light will be amber.
The light will also be amber if they are currently charging in the case.
If there is no light at all, it means that the AirPods are dead (although it could also mean that the charging case is dead, in which case you need to charge that as well).
As mentioned above, only one set of Bluetooth headphones, headsets, or buds are able to connect to a Sony TV at a time. If your Sony TV already has one such device currently paired, you have to unpair it first.
Another issue may be that there is something going wrong with your AirPods themselves. It is entirely possible that they may be broken in some way, either as a defect or through an accident.
In this case, you would have to seek a replacement. Your Bluetooth capabilities could also be having some issues. If they are, be sure to contact Apple who can troubleshoot you through fixing them.
Are all Sony TVs compatible with AirPods?
While Bluetooth connectivity typically means that AirPods are able to work with a certain device, that does not mean that it is the case for all of them.
Before planning to listen to your Sony TV u should also make sure that your Sony TV is actually compatible with your AirPods.
Some Sony TVs, even those that have Bluetooth capabilities, are simply unable to connect to audio output devices.
For example, the Sony Bravia TV cannot produce audio through Bluetooth audio output devices of any kind. The Bluetooth functionality in this TV is meant for use with Bluetooth remotes and other select devices.
