Do AirPods charge while the case is open?

As an AirPods user, I was frustrated to discover that my AirPods weren’t charging when I left the case open. After doing some research, I wanted to share what I learned about this issue and other potential solutions.

Do the AirPods Charge While the Case is Open?

The most important thing when it comes to your Apple AirPods is that you get a charge going. You need a charge in the Apple AirPods so that you can do everything you want with the device. If you want to listen to music, take phone calls, and everything else then you need the Apple AirPods to have full battery life.

Does the AirPods Case Need to be Closed to Charge?

There could be the misconception that you need to have the Apple AirPods fully closed in order to get them to charge fully. This is not true!

You can charge the Apple AirPods case with the lid open or closed with no issues at all. As long as you have a connection going into the case or have them on a wireless charging mat with compatibility, you are in great shape.

You can charge the Apple AirPods Charging Case, which is what the case of the Apple AirPods is called, to a lightning cable. You can also use a Qi-certified charging mat.

Is It Okay to Leave AirPods in the Case While Charging?

There is no issue at all with leaving the Apple AirPods in the case while they or the case is charging.

As the case builds up a charge, it is going to power up and begin to transfer all of that great energy into the Apple AirPods as well.

This makes it a seamless process where you can charge up the case and the earbuds at the same time.  

Is It OK to Leave the AirPods Case Open?

There is no technical issue with leaving the Apple AirPods case open when you are charging it or using the device.

The only problem you may run into here is the risk that you end up losing the Apple AirPods. With the case open, you could easily have one of the earbuds fall out due to a bump or shake.

Be careful when leaving the case open all of the time as there is a risk of losing the device.  

There is a lot to learn when it comes to the Apple AirPods devices. These are simple headphones in their design and aesthetics.

They look great and have very few buttons and such. The reality though is that with that simplicity comes to a lot of hidden technology you may not be aware of. It is critical that you become as familiar as possible with the Apple AirPods so you can get the most out of them.
