Why is surround sound not working with my Chromecast?

If surround sound is not working on your Chromecast, it could be because you have not turned on surround sound in the settings of your Google Home app as explained above.

It could also be because you need to plug the Chromecast straight into the HDMI port of the sound system you are trying to use. Unfortunately, a lot of TVs do not support pass through audio.

You can also plug the Chromecast straight into the TV then use the optical cable from your TV into your surround sound receiver.

Obviously, it would help to ensure that you have everything plugged in correctly. It could also help to try restarting your Chromecast as well as your TV.
