How Do I Add Netflix to Apple TV?

As an owner of an Apple TV, I know how frustrating it can be when you can’t get the streaming services you want. After a lot of research and testing, I’m here to share how I solved the problem of adding Netflix to my Apple TV, as well as any other solutions I discovered along the way. In this blog post, I’ll share all the tips and tricks I’ve learned about how to add Netflix to your Apple TV.

You can download the free Netflix app from your Apple Store. However, you do need an existing subscription to log on to the platform.

How to Download Netflix?

The first step to adding Netflix to your Apple TV is downloading it. To do this, follow these steps:

  1. Turn on your Apple TV.
  2. Click the back button on your TV remote.
  3. On the Home Screen page, scroll until you find the App Store icon.
  4. Click on the icon to launch the store.
  5. Navigate to the search bar at the top of the page.
  6. Type in “Netflix” as the query.
  7. Click on the Netflix app.
  8. Select the download button on the left of the screen.
  9. Wait for the app to download and install.
  10. Exit the app store.
  11. Go back to your Home Screen.
  12. Locate and launch the Netflix app.

After that, the application is ready. However, in order for you to use it, you need an active account.

What to Do If You Can’t Find the Netflix App?

Sometimes when you open the Apple TV app store, the Netflix app isn’t there. This can happen if your TV software is out of date

To fix this issue, you can follow these steps:

  1. Turn on your Apple TV.
  2. Click on the Settings button on your remote.
  3. Navigate to the Systems tab.
  4. Go to the Software Updates section.
  5. Select Check for Updates.
  6. Download and install the latest software version.
  7. Restart your TV.

After this process, go back to your Apple TV app store and search for Netflix. You should be able to find it easily.

What to Do If Netflix Crashes?

If your Netflix app keeps crashing, it’s probably an issue with the installation. A quick way to fix this is to remove the app. 

To do this, follow these steps:

  1. Turn on your Apple TV.
  2. Click on the back button on your remote to launch the Home Screen.
  3. Navigate to the Netflix app.
  4. Select and hold the click-pad while you hover over the app.
  5. Click on the Play/Pause button to reveal more options.
  6. Select delete app.
  7. Re-install Netflix from the app store.

This process should only take a few minutes. Then, you should be able to use the Netflix app with no issues.

How to Sign Into Netflix?

Once you download the app, the signing-in process is fairly simple. There are only a few steps to this task:

  1. Turn on your Apple TV.
  2. Click the back button on your remote to go to the Home Screen.
  3. Locate the Netflix app.
  4. Navigate to the sign-in option.
  5. Enter your username and password.
  6. Select the log-in button.

Sometimes, instead of a sign-in option, you’ll find a members section. These are different names for the same function.

You need to ensure that you have an account before you try to log in. Unlike laptops and phones, your Apple TV won’t give you the option to create a new profile.

How to Sign Out of Netflix?

With most websites, signing out is usually easier than signing in. All you have to do is click a button, and you’re done. However, this isn’t the case for Netflix on Apple TV.

How you log off your Netflix account will depend on your Apple TV generation.

Second and Third Generation

To log out of your Netflix account, you can follow these steps:

  1. Turn on your Apple TV.
  2. Click on the back button to launch the Home Screen.
  3. Navigate to the Netflix app.
  4. Open up the setting menu.
  5. Select Switch Profiles.
  6. Click on the Sign Out option.

Once you finish these steps, the app will redirect you to the sign-in page.

Fourth Generation

Fourth-generation Apple TVs have a slightly different process. To sign out from your Netflix account, follow these steps:

  1. Turn on your Apple TV.
  2. Click on the back button on your remote to launch the Home Screen.
  3. Navigate to the Netflix app.
  4. Click the Menu button on your remote.
  5. Locate the settings menu.
  6. Select the sign-out option.

After that, the application may restart and open up the log-in page.

How do I add Netflix to Apple TV? The process is rather simple. All you have to do is navigate to the app store and enter Netflix into the search query. 

Once you’re there, download and install the app. If you can’t find Netflix in the app store, your Apple TV software may be out of date. Try installing the latest update and then search for the app.
