How Do You Manually Turn on a Samsung TV?

As a Samsung TV owner, I know how frustrating it can be when your TV won’t turn on. Recently, I experienced this issue and did some research and testing to find the solution. I’m here to share how I managed to manually turn on my Samsung TV, as well as other solutions that I discovered during my research.

To manually turn on a Samsung TV, you can use the power button. The power button is usually on the bottom of the screen, right under the infrared sensor. With the button, you can turn on the TV and carry out limited functions.

Tips
The power button on a Samsung TV is usually located at the bottom of the screen, under the infrared sensor.
The power button allows limited access to the TV, including turning it on and off, controlling the volume, changing the channel, and selecting the TV input source.
If you don’t have the remote, you can use the SmartThings app to control your Samsung TV.
A keyboard or other controllers can also be used to control your TV.

How Do You Manually Turn on a Samsung TV?

Losing a remote control is a fairly common problem that many people face. You’re busy all day, and you want to relax in front of the TV, then the next thing you know, you can’t find your remote.

This can be incredibly frustrating if you’re trying to turn on your TV to catch your favorite show, and you’re running out of time before the show starts.

If all you’re looking for is to quickly turn on your TV screen, you’re in luck. All you have to do is use the power button at the bottom of the screen.

Where to Find Your Samsung TV’s Power Button

To find the button, look for the infrared sensor. It looks like a small tab sticking out of your screen. The tab will also usually have a small red flashing light. Right under the tab, you should find the power button.

If you have trouble locating your button, refer to the user manual that came with the device. You can also find an online user manual by entering the TV’s model number on Samsung’s Support page.

What Can You Do With the Samsung TV Power Button?

Using the Samsung TV power button, you have access to a few limited functions. These functions include:

  • Powering your TV on and off
  • Controlling the volume
  • Changing the channel
  • Choosing the TV input source

You can move a cursor around by clicking the button and select any option by holding it for a few seconds. This works incredibly well in a pinch. However, using the power button can get extremely tedious.

With the power button, you can only move in a single direction. That means that you may have to cycle through all available options just to find the one you want. Moreover, you have to be right next to the TV to even use the button.

Alternatives to Using the Samsung TV Power Button

If you’re not satisfied with the limited functions of the power button, there are a few alternatives.

Using the SmartThings App

SmartThings is an app that allows you to control all your smart devices from your phone. With this app, you’ll have complete access to your Samsung TV, including the Smart Hub.

To use this app:

  1. Install and launch the SmartThings app on your phone or tablet
  2. Turn on your TV
  3. Find your TV in the list of available smart devices
  4. Follow the linking instructions

The first time you connect, the TV asks for confirmation. For this, you’ll need to use the power button. Even if you find the remote, it’s a good idea to set up the SmartThings app in case you lose the remote again.

Using a Keyboard

Another alternative to using the power button is to use a keyboard. Keyboards are another convenient way to control your TV.

You can connect a keyboard to your Samsung TV through USB ports. This means you can use both wired and wireless keyboards, as long as they have a USB plug.

Connecting your keyboard should give you full access to your TV’s functions. Using the arrow keys, you can move around the screen and even use the letters to use the search bar.

There are also a few hotkeys you can assign to different functions. These functions include:

  • Pulling up the menu
  • Accessing the Smart Hub
  • Displaying the source list
  • Changing channels.

Using Other Controllers

If you don’t happen to have a spare USB keyboard lying around, you can use other controllers. This includes joysticks, like the Steam, Xbox, and Logitech controllers.

However, since these controllers require a Bluetooth connection, they’re a little tough to set up. You can navigate through the different menus with the power button, but you’ll find that the setup takes a while.

Therefore, if you don’t connect the controller before you lose the remote, the process may not be worth it.
