As an avid home theater enthusiast, I’m always on the lookout for the perfect TV. One of the most important factors to consider is the weight of a TV. With TVs getting larger and larger, it’s important to know how much a TV inch model weighs before you commit to buying one. In this blog post, I’ll explore the weights of different sizes of TVs to help you decide what’s best for your home theater setup.

So, how much does a 50/55/60/65/70/75/80-inch TV weigh?

Well, it depends on the brand and model of the television set. In other words, no two brands despite having the same screen size can have identical weights. However, we can draw a conclusion by comparing a few brands and getting their average weight.

How Much Does a 50/55/60/65/70/75/80 Inch TV Weigh? 

In the following sections, we’ll see how much a TV weighs according to how big their screens are. We’ll start from 50-inch TVs up to 80-inch TVs.  

The Weight of a 50-Inch TV

One of the well-known TV makers that has a 50-inch screen size model is Panasonic. It’s LED TV TH-50FS600D weighs around 30.8 pounds. That’s like the weight of a 3-year-old female toddler. Furthermore, Samsung’s 4K Smart TV has a weight of only 29.3 pounds while Vizio’s 50” LED TV only weighs 28.2 pounds. 

So, by looking at the weight of these TVs, we can say that on average—a 50-inch TV usually weighs around 29.5 pounds.

The Weight of a 55-Inch TV

Five inches bigger than the previous example, let’s see how weighty a 55-inch TV is. Let’s begin with Sony. Its Bravia KDL-55W800D Full HD LED TV weighs no more than 37.4 pounds. OLED TVs like what Samsung has weighs only 36.4 pounds. 

While those two TVs almost have the same weight, LG’s OLED Evo C2 Series is way lighter than theirs. It weighs only 32.2 pounds.

We can conclude that the average weight of a 55-inch TV is 35 lbs.

The Weight of a 60-Inch TV

In 2018,  the 60-inch TV category had a 40% sales increase. On the other hand, the number of supplies made the price of this TV size drop. 

When it comes to weight, we learned that on average—TVs with a 60-inch screen size weigh around 39 to 40 pounds. We looked at the weight of Vizio’s V-Series (37.5 lbs.), LG’s LED TV (51. 3 lbs.), and TCL’s Android TV (30.4 lbs) to get that number.

The Weight of a 65-Inch TV

While the average weight of a 65-inch television is between 55 to 60 pounds, Sony released a few models that weigh between 49 and 82 pounds. 

We also found out that Phillips’ 4K UHD is one of the lightest among popular brands. It weighs only 44.98 pounds. Vizio and TCL both have 65-inch TVs that weigh 60.9 and 63.9 pounds respectively.

As an added note, the 65-inch TV turns out to be the most popular choice for many households in North America. 

The Weight of a 70-Inch TV

Like other TV sizes, 70-inch televisions also vary in weight depending on the brand. Take, for example, Insignia’s NS-70F501NA22. This TV is one the cheapest models in the market; however, it’s heavier than other prominent brands like Sony

Insignia weighs 74.8 pounds while Sony LED X690E Series only weighs 61.1 pounds. Another known TV maker that weighs less than Insignia is LG. Its 4K UHD has a weight of only 63.3 lbs. 

Based on what we’ve seen, it seems that the average weight of a 70-inch TV is around 66 pounds.

The Weight of a 75-Inch TV

While Samsung is known for having one of the heaviest 75-inch TVs, Vizio has one of the lightest releases. The former weighs 77 pounds while the latter has a weight of 61.07 lbs. That’s a 15.9-pound difference.

Another brand and model that has a 70ish-pound weight is TCL. Its 4K HDR Roku weighs 73.9 pounds. So, if you plan to buy a 75-inch TV, expect its weight to be somewhere in the region of 70 pounds. 

The Weight of an 80-Inch TV

If the weight difference between the two TVs in our previous example surprised you, wait till you see the disparity between these two brands. 

You see, Panasonic’s 80-inch Full HD TV weighs 135 pounds while Vizio’s 2160p 4K Ultra HD TV weighs only 99.03 pounds. That’s a whopping 35.97 pounds difference. Other models like Sharp’s LC-80UH30U sit somewhere in the middle. It has a weight of 113.6 pounds.

All in all, the average weight of an 80-inch TV is between 115 to 116 pounds.

We’ve seen that the TV’s weight increases as the screen size gets bigger. For example, a 55-inch TV is heavier by around 5.5 pounds than a 50-inch TV. 

We also learned that televisions’ weight changes from brand to brand. We saw that the 80-inch TV category has two different brands that have similar screen sizes; yet they have a huge weight gap.
