- Vizio TV Buttons
Luckily, all Vizio TVs come with buttons on the TV itself. Although manufacturers keep them in hard-to-find places, you can turn to them as a first resort if you lost the remote.
Depending on the model, you can find the buttons in different positions. Usually, they’re located in the left bottom corner, right bottom corner, or at the back of the TV.
- Vizio SmartCast App
Plus, you can download the application from Google Play and the App Store. Hence, both iPhone and Android users can access Vizio SmartCast. To start using the app, navigate to Device and select Add in the upper right corner of your TV screen.
Then, hold your phone near the device once prompted. After the pairing is complete, go to Control at the bottom of the screen, and select Devices. Lastly, choose your device from the list.
- IR Blaster Smartphone Apps
Other than the Vizio SmartCast app, you can also use an IR Universal Remote app. First, check if your smartphone has a built-in IR Blaster. The easiest way to find out is by searching your model’s specs online.
Next, check if your smartphone already has a built-in remote control or IR blaster app. If it doesn’t, you can download remote apps from Google Play.
Some popular applications are Anymote Universal Remote and CodeMatics’ Universal TV Remote Control.
Once you’re done installing, open the app and select TV from the pop-up menu. Next, choose Vizio from the list of supported models. Then, the app will display some instructions to link the TV to your smartphone.
After you’re done setting up the device, you can use your phone to adjust the volume and switch channels.
- Apple Airplay2
In 2019, Vizio released its TV lineup that supports Apple Airplay. The feature lets you use your phone as a remote to smart TVs, including your Vizio TV.
First, connect your devices to the same Wi-Fi network. Then, make sure that your TV is running the latest software. To do so, navigate to Settings and select Check for Updates from the System menu. If your software isn’t up to date, there’ll be a new one available.
Click Install and then restart your TV. Once you’ve updated your TV software, open Settings on your iPhone and go to General. Make sure that Airplay is enabled.
Then, swipe down from the upper right corner of your iPhone screen and open the Control Center. Click screen mirroring and select your Vizio from the list of Airplay-compatible smart TVs.
- Google Chromecast
Formerly known as Google Cast, Google Chromecast lets you cast content from an electronic device to your TV. It also allows your smartphone or tablet to serve as a remote to your TV via a Wi-Fi connection.
Selected Smart TV brands have built-in Chromecast technology. Luckily, Vizio is one of them.
First, make sure that both your TV and smartphone are connected to the same Wi-Fi network. Then, open a streaming app that’s compatible with Chromecast. Some examples are YouTube, Prime Video, and Netflix.
Then, click the cast icon on the top right corner of the app. Once you’ve selected the content you want to cast on your TV, you can use your phone to control the volume.
- PS4 Controller
Using a PlayStation4 game console is another way you can adjust the volume in your Vizio TV without using the remote. Just connect your PS4 controller to the TV with an HDMI cable. Then, go to Settings and choose System. Then select Enable HDMI Device Link.
Once connected, the game console can serve as a remote control on your Vizio TV.
- Nintendo Switch Controller
A Nintendo switch controller can also adjust the volume of your Vizio TV. You can connect the gaming console to your device via a docking station. Start by selecting System Settings on the home screen.
