How To AirPlay From Apple Devices To Android TV

Many Android TVs can display AirPlay content from an Apple device without a third-party app or additional accessory. If your Android TV supports AirPlay functionality, you can AirPlay content from your Apple devices to your TV by following these six simple steps!

Step One: Make Sure Your Devices Are Updated

Firstly, you should ensure that your Android TV and Apple device are updated to the latest firmware.

When one or both of your devices are running outdated software, you’ll struggle to properly use the AirPlay media sharing feature with your TV.

Step Two: Connect Your TV To The Internet

AirPlay uses your internet connection to stream content from your Apple device to your TV. To use AirPlay, you must ensure your Android TV is connected to the internet. To do this, you’ll need to open the connection settings on your Android TV.

Step Three: Connect Your Apple Device To The Internet

Once your TV is connected to the internet, connect your Apple device to the same network.

To use the AirPlay feature, you must ensure your Apple device and TV are connected to the same internet connection. If your devices are not connected to the same network, AirPlay will not work.

Step Four: Find Content To AirPlay To Android TV

When your devices are connected to the same network, you’re ready to AirPlay. On your Apple device, navigate to the content you wish to stream. This could be a video, music, photos, or your entire screen.

Step Five: Select AirPlay On Your Apple Device

Once you’ve opened the media or screen that you wish to AirPlay to your TV, click on the AirPlay sharing icon.

Step Six: Select Your Android TV To Use AirPlay With

After you’ve clicked on the AirPlay icon, you’ll be prompted to select a device or TV to use with AirPlay. If your Android TV supports AirPlay, it will be listed here. Once you select it, the content on your Apple device will be mirrored on your TV.

Troubleshooting Tips For AirPlay To Android TV

If your Android TV supports AirPlay functionality, but you’re struggling to stream content from your Apple device to TV, there are some handy troubleshooting tips to use.

From updating your devices to restarting them, these tips can be used to fix connection issues between your iOS device and TV.

Ensure Devices Are Running Updated Software

When you have trouble using AirPlay with your Android TV, you should ensure your TV and iOS devices are updated to the latest software.

When your devices are running outdated software, you’re more likely to run into problems with certain functionality, including AirPlay. How to update your Android TV will depend on the make and model. You can find information about updating your Apple devices here

Make Sure Your Internet Connection Is Working

As we discussed earlier, both of your devices need to be connected to the same internet connection to successfully AirPlay content from an Apple device to Android TV.

If your connection is slow or faulty, you’ll run into issues with AirPlay functionality. To test this, you can run an internet speed test

Try Restarting Your TV And Apple Device

Once you’ve ruled out software- or internet-related issues hindering your AirPlay connection, you should try power restarting your devices.

To restart your TV, you should power it off and unplug it from the power outlet. After a minute, you can plug it in again. You should also restart the iPhone or iPad you’re trying to AirPlay from.

Solutions For Android TVs That Don’t Support AirPlay

Unfortunately, not all Android TVs support AirPlay functionality – but that doesn’t mean there aren’t ways around this!

There are two practical solutions to consider if your Android TV doesn’t support AirPlay: installing a third-party AirPlay app or purchasing a Google Chromecast device for your Android TV.

Install A Third-Party App That Allows AirPlay On Android TV

Getting AirPlay for your Android TV could be as simple as installing a third-party app from the Google App Store.

While you’ll find many different apps to choose from, many of these are paid apps that need to be purchased to access the functionality. There are many fantastic third-party apps to consider, including AirScreen (free), AirPin Pro (paid), and AirPlay Mirror (paid).

Purchase A Google Chromecast Device To AirPlay To Android TV

Another solution for Android TVs without AirPlay is to purchase a Google Chromecast receiver. This nifty receiver plugs into your TV’s HDMI port, allowing you to wirelessly stream or cast content from Apple iOS and macOS devices, as well as Windows and Android devices.

Google Chromecast is compatible with a vast number of apps, including Netflix, YouTube, Hulu, Disney+, Prime Video, Spotify, Apple Music, and more!

Conclusion

To AirPlay from an Apple device to an Android TV, both devices must be updated and connected to the same internet connection. Using the AirPlay feature on your Apple device, you can choose the content you wish to AirPlay to your Android TV. While this only works with compatible Android TVs with AirPlay, there are solutions for TVs without this media sharing functionality.
