As a Samsung TV owner, I know all too well the frustration of not being able to find your remote. After several hours of searching, I finally found my remote in the most unlikely of places. In my quest to find a solution to this common problem, I did some research and testing to figure out the best ways to find a Samsung TV remote. Today, I’m here to share my experience and the solutions I discovered in hopes that it helps others who are in a similar situation.

The best way to find replacements is online. Start with the Samsung website before looking elsewhere. This website holds a collection of almost all Samsung remotes. Yet, if you can’t find your model, there are other ways of controlling your TV from afar.

What to do if you lose a Samsung TV remote

Losing track of your remote is a problem we’ve all faced. Sometimes, it gets pushed between the cushions or falls behind the couch. Sometimes, it just disappears altogether.

Unfortunately, there are no quick fixes to finding your Samsung TV remote. The only options you have are to manually look around the house in places where you frequently use the remote.

When this happens, the next logical step is to buy a replacement for your TV remote.

Samsung doesn’t sell remotes on their main website. Instead, they have a whole other website specially dedicated to spare parts called Samsung Parts. So, it makes sense that this would be the place to start looking for a replacement.

Once on the website, enter your TV model in the search bar to see if the remote is available. If you’re lucky, you’ll find your remote model straight away.

Unfortunately, that’s not always the case. While the website is keen on stocking spare parts from as many models as possible, sometimes parts just run out.

If this is the case, don’t despair. There are several alternatives you can use instead of the traditional remote.

Alternatives to a Samsung TV Remote

Finding an alternative to a Samsung TV remote can come in handy.

Even if you get your hands on a replacement, getting it delivered can take a while. So, here are a few fun alternatives you can try in the meantime.

Using the Power Button

We’re so used to using the remote that we forget there are control buttons on the TV set itself.

Almost all Samsung TVs have a power button on the bottom of the screen. When you find it, give it a gentle press to turn on the TV.

Moreover, some models feature a controller button for changing channels and controlling the volume. Yet, as you can imagine, it can get tiresome after a while.

Thus, this method is best suited if you just need to turn your TV on and off.

Connecting a Keyboard

It may sound a bit unorthodox, but your keyboard is one of the easiest ways to control your TV. By using the arrow keys and number pad, you can carry out all the functions you need.

Both wired and wireless keyboards will work just fine. As long as the keyboard can connect to the TV’s USB port, you shouldn’t have any problem.

Using the SmartThings App

SmartThings is an app compatible with Android and iOS phones that allows you to control any smart device. Once you set everything up, you’ll have full control over the TV.

The only issue with this method is that you need to confirm the connection on the TV, which can be tricky without a remote. Still, you can connect a keyboard temporarily just until you finish the setup.

Here’s how:

  1. Ensure your phone and TV are connected to the same WiFi network.
  2. Then, install the app on your phone.
  3. Create a ‘SmartThings’ account
  4. Next, find your Samsung TV in the list of available devices
  5. Follow the instructions to connect your devices.

Using a Universal Remote

If you can’t find a replacement but still prefer the feel of a remote, you have one final option: a universal remote. With this versatile remote, you don’t have to worry about compatibility.

To program a universal remote, simply follow the instructions that come with the device. The process is a bit tedious, but it’s still a great way to fix your remote problem.

How to Keep Track of Your Remote

If losing your remote is a frequent problem, there are a couple of ways to keep track of it.

The most common solution is to put it in a designated cubby or a remote organizer. It’s old-school, but you’ll be surprised how effective this method can be.

Another thing you can try is a ‘Tile Sticker.’ This sticker adheres to the back of your remote and acts as a mini tracker.

Then, download the app on your phone. So, the next time you lose your remote, you can track it down with the Tile Sticker as far as 150 feet away.
