How to find AirPods when no location found

As an AirPods owner, I have been frustrated when I can’t seem to find them. I recently experienced this issue and wanted to find a solution. After some research and testing, I am here to share how I solved this issue, and to provide some other potential solutions that I discovered. In this blog post, I will explain how to find your AirPods when no location is found.

To find your AirPods, try to see if you can get them to appear on your device’s Bluetooth list. If you can get the AirPods to appear on your Bluetooth, it means that the AirPods are nearby. Otherwise, you will have to retrace your steps and to look in places that you frequently use the AirPods.

Also, if the AirPods are in the case, have no power, have been reset, or are broken, they will not be able to appear on your Bluetooth list.

So, it could still be the case that the AirPods are nearby even if they are not appearing on your device’s Bluetooth list.

Tips

If the Find My app is unable to find the location of your AirPods, you could still try walking around to see if you can pick them up on your Bluetooth settings.

However, if you cannot find them on your Bluetooth, it will be necessary for you to retrace your steps and to look in places where you frequently use your AirPods. Other than that, there is not much that you can do.

However, if they have not been connected for 24 hours, the last known location will actually disappear.

If your AirPods have not been connected for 24 hours, it is likely to be why your AirPods location is not showing on the Find My app.

In addition, AirPods will not be connected to the Find My app in the following situations:

They are in the case

If the AirPods are in the case, they get disconnected and turned off, so will no longer update their location on the Find My app.

They are out of power

If the AirPods are out of power, they will not be able to update their location on the Find My app.

They have been reset

If someone resets your AirPods, the AirPods will no longer be connected to your Find My app and will no longer update their location.

The AirPods will also forget their previous connections so will not connect to your devices unless they are paired again.

They were never connected to Find My in the first place

AirPods should automatically get connected to your Find My app when you connect the AirPods to your iPhone.

However, it is possible that they were never connected. This would be more likely if you have never tried to find your AirPods on the app before.

They are broken

It could also be the case that the AirPods are broken. In this case, the Find My app should still have shown the last known location for 24 hours and then stopped after that.
