How to turn off casting on my Samsung TV?

There are a few ways you can stop casting to other devices, depending on what you’re screen casting from – a phone or a PC. Most simply, you can manually un-pair the devices.

To un-pair devices, go into your TV’s settings and select the ‘Connected Devices’ option. From there, you can easily choose which devices you’d like to keep and which you can disconnect.

You can also disconnect the devices using the SmartThings app. Simply select the Smart View option from the home page, and slide the slider bar to the left to disable the screen share between your device and TV.

You can also disallow sharing between your phone and TV by selecting ‘no’ when asked to Allow Sharing.

If you’ve already allowed sharing, you can achieve the same effect by going into the Screen Sharing section of the SmartThings app’s Connection Guide and selecting No. This disables the network connection between your device and your TV.

As a last-ditch effort, you can also uninstall the SmartThings app from your phone, as that’s what facilitates the connection between the devices.

Why won’t my Samsung TV stop casting?

If the connection between your phone or PC and your TV has not been disabled, the casting will continue until the connection is stopped.

To stop casting, you’ll need to do one of three things: un-pair the devices, disconnect the network connection between devices on the SmartThings app, or select ‘no’ from the Connection Guide when asked to allow sharing.

Connect your Android phone to the same Wi-Fi as your Chromecast. Open Home, then tap the name of the room the device is in. Then tap the settings icon and scroll down until you see the option to let others control your cast media. Switch the slider to the off/gray position.

This breaks the connection between your phone and TV.

For newer IOS versions, simply tap the Settings icon and scroll down. Click General, then scroll to ‘Airplay and Handoff’.

From there, you’ll have three options in the ‘Automatically Airplay to TVs’ tab – Never, Ask, and Automatic. To disable screen casting entirely, choose Never. To screen cast on a more case-by-case basis, choose Ask.
