How To Use Your Phone Internet On Your TV

If you’re like me, you’ve been frustrated with trying to figure out how to use your phone’s internet connection on your TV. I found myself searching for hours on the internet trying to find a way to make it work and after a lot of research, trial and error, I finally figured out how to do it. Now, I’m here to share with you what I learned and the pros and cons of each solution. In this blog post, I’m going to walk you through how to use your phone’s internet connection to stream content on your TV. I’ll also share tips and tricks to make the process easier and more efficient.

You can use your phone’s internet on your TV if you have enough mobile data and a decent signal. After you’ve enabled the Wi-Fi hotspot on your Android or Apple smartphone, you can connect your smart TV or streaming media player to the hotspot. You can now stream content using your phone’s data!

Can You Use Your Phone’s Internet On Your TV? 

As we briefly explained above, it’s possible to use your phone’s internet on your smart TV or streaming media players. If you’re struggling with a bad Wi-Fi connection, using your phone’s internet will allow you to keep using your smart TV or media player without unwanted interruptions. 

To do this, you’ll need to enable a Wi-Fi hotspot on your Apple or Android smartphone. Once you’ve created a hotspot, you’ll be able to connect your smart TV or streaming media player to your mobile data hotspot. Doing this will allow your TV to utilize your phone’s internet connection to use apps and stream content.

It’s important to note that connecting your TV or media player to your phone’s Wi-Fi hotspot will allow your TV to utilize your mobile data. However, streaming high-resolution content on your TV can quickly use up your available mobile data. You’ll also need good signal strength when using your hotspot to use your smart TV. 

How To Use Your Android Phone’s Internet On Your TV

If you own an Android smartphone, you can follow these steps to use your phone’s Wi-Fi hotspot on your smart TV or streaming media player! 

Step One: Swipe Down From The Top Of Your Screen 

Firstly, you’ll need to swipe down from the top of your Android phone’s screen to access different settings. However, you can also open the Settings App on your device to do this! 

Step Two: Touch And Hold “Hotspot” 

Once you’ve found the Hotspot option in your phone’s settings, touch and hold the Hotspot option. 

Step Three: Turn On “Wi-Fi Hotspot” 

From this screen, you’ll be able to change your hotspot name or password. If you haven’t used the feature before, you’ll be prompted to set up your Wi-Fi hotspot. Once your hotspot name and password have been adjusted, you can turn on your Wi-Fi hotspot. 

Step Four: Open Settings On Your Smart TV 

Now that you’ve activated your Wi-Fi hotspot on your Android smartphone, you can open the settings on your smart TV or streaming media player. 

Step Five: Navigate To Network/Internet/Wi-Fi Settings 

Once you’ve opened the settings menu on your smart TV or media player, you should navigate to the network settings. These settings may also be listed as internet or Wi-Fi settings. 

Step Six: Connect Your Smart TV To Your Android Phone’s Hotspot 

Once you’ve opened the internet settings on your TV, you’ll see the Wi-Fi network your TV is currently connected to. You should click the option to search for nearby Wi-Fi networks. When doing this, your Android phone’s Wi-Fi hotspot will be listed. Select your hotspot from the list and enter the password to connect. Your TV is now connected to your Android phone’s internet! 

How To Use Your Apple iPhone’s Internet On Your TV

If you own an Apple iPhone, you can follow these steps to use your iPhone’s mobile hotspot on your smart TV or streaming media player!

Step One: Open Settings On Your Apple iPhone 

Firstly, you’ll need to open the Settings App on your iPhone. 

Step Two: Click On “Personal Hotspot”  

At the top of the Settings App on your iPhone, you’ll see various options listed, including Airplane Mode, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, Mobile Data, Personal Hotspot, and VPN. Click on the Personal Hotspot option! 

Step Three: Enable “Allow Others To Join” 

From this screen, you’ll see an option to Allow Others To Join and another option to adjust the Wi-Fi Password. The Wi-Fi password for your hotspot will be used when connecting to your smart TV, so ensure it’s not too long or complicated to type in with the remote control later! Once you’ve set the password, enable Allow Others To Join. 

Step Four: Open Settings On Your Smart TV 

Now that you’ve activated your personal hotspot on your iPhone, you can open the settings on your smart TV or streaming media player. 

Step Five: Navigate To Network/Internet/Wi-Fi Settings 

Once you’ve opened the settings menu on your smart TV or media player, you should navigate to the network settings. These settings may also be listed as internet or Wi-Fi settings. 

Step Six: Connect Your Smart TV To Your iPhone’s Personal Hotspot 

Once you’ve opened the network settings on your TV, you’ll see the Wi-Fi network your TV is currently connected to. However, you’ll see an option to search for Wi-Fi networks. When doing this, your iPhone’s mobile hotspot will pop up. Select your hotspot from the list and enter the password to connect. Your TV is now connected to your iPhone’s internet! 

Pros:

  • Using your phone’s internet connection to stream content on your TV is an easy and efficient way to watch your favorite shows.

  • Using your phone’s internet connection to stream content on your TV can be slower and more prone to buffering issues than using a dedicated internet connection.

Conclusion

You can use your smartphone’s internet on your TV if you have enough mobile data and decent signal strength. Once you’ve activated the Wi-Fi hotspot on your Apple or Android smartphone, you can connect your smart TV or streaming media player to the mobile hotspot.
