Samsung TV Dialogue Too Quiet (Causes and How to Fix)

As a Samsung TV owner, I’ve been frustrated with the dialogue being too quiet compared to the background music and sound effects. I knew I had to do something to fix the issue, so I did some research and testing to find the best solutions. In this blog post, I’m here to share how I solved this problem and the other solutions I discovered for those experiencing the same issue.

Quick Fixes:

Some Samsung TV models have a dialogue clarity feature that amplifies the volume of voices. To turn this on go “settings” -> “sound” -> “Sound effect” -> press enter -> “Dialogue clarity”

Some Samsung TVs also have a “voice amplifier” feature. Go to “Settings” then “General” then “Intelligent Mode” then turn on “Active voice amplifier”.

There are several reasons why the dialogue on your Samsung TV could be too quiet. One of these reasons is a bug in the system. Another may be faulty wiring, while a different cause could be that you’re watching a movie or show with low-volume dialogue.

About Samsung TVs

Samsung has been in the TV business for more than 40 years. They’re one of the biggest names in the industry and have been at the forefront of innovation ever since.

Samsung TVs are known for their high quality and affordable prices. So, if you’re looking for a new TV but don’t want to break the bank, Samsung is a great choice!

Unfortunately, some users experience a few issues while watching their favorite shows or movies on the Samsung screen.

Consumers had trouble understanding dialogue in TV shows or movies because it was too quiet. Luckily, the issue can be resolved quickly.

4 Reasons Why Samsung TV Dialogue Is Too Quiet

Let’s take a look at the most common causes of this problem, along with some tips for fixing them.

  1. You Have an Outdated Software

Samsung TVs are some of the best on the market, but if your TV has an old software version, you might experience some issues.

Like most other modern technological devices, your Samsung TV needs software updates to fix bugs and add new features.

A bug is a flaw in the system that causes the device to operate incorrectly. Plus, bugs can cause your device to crash or even become unusable, so it’s essential to update your device regularly.

Here’s a step-by-step guide to updating your Samsung smart TV:

  • Open your TV
  • Grab the remote and open the menu
  • Head to “Settings”
  • Choose “Support”
  • Select “ Software Update”
  • Finally, pick “Update Now”

Typically, the update should take a few minutes, and you’ll have to leave the TV turned on until it’s over.

After it finishes, it’ll automatically restart on its own. Additionally, you can choose to turn on automatic updates so that you’ll always have the most recent version of your software.

Here’s how:

  • Open the main menu on your TV
  • Head to “Settings”
  • Select “Support”
  • Choose “ Software Update”
  • Turn on “Auto Update”

Important note: ensuring that your device is always connected to the internet during this process is essential.

  1. It Was a Creator’s Choice

In the age of virtual reality, movie and show directors are constantly looking for new ways to make their products more immersive. They usually try to accomplish this through a variety of creative choices.

Some movie directors make the dialogue audio lower than the surrounding sounds on purpose! For example, in the movie “Interstellar,” Christopher Nolan said that he used low dialogue audio as a “carefully considered creative decision.

Luckily for us, there’s a way to get around this. Here’s how:

  • Open the menu
  • Select “Settings”
  • Choose “Sound”
  • Pick “Sound Mode”
  • You’ll find three options; select “Strengthen”

You can use this mode to amplify voices, making them easier to hear when they’re difficult to understand.

  1. Faulty HDMI Cords

It can be hard to get clear audio and picture when your wiring isn’t up to snuff. If you’re using an HDMI cable in your setup, its quality could be the source of your problem.

HDMI stands for High-Definition Multimedia Interface, and it’s a digital audio/video transmission standard that was developed in 2002.

When you’re deciding between a cheap HDMI cable and an expensive version, the choice can affect the quality of the streaming time you enjoy.

Additionally, if the cable is old and frayed, or if it’s loose, that can cause the sound to dampen or be completely mute.

Thanks to a special feature on certain Samsung TV models, you can run HDMI cable tests to make sure the connections are working properly.

Here’s how to run the test:

  • Choose the HDMI port you want to test on your TV
  • Head to “Settings”
  • Select “Support”
  • Choose “Self Diagnosis”
  • Pick “Signal Information”
  • Select “HDMI Cable Test”
  • Finally, click “Start Test” and wait for your results

If the diagnosis results say that the cable is faulty, it’s best to change it as soon as possible.

4. You need to reset your Samsung TV

Often, a soft reset is all that is needed to solve issues on a Samsung TV. A soft reset does not erase any data. To soft reset a Samsung TV, you simply need to turn the TV off, then remove the plug from the wall outlet and wait for 60 seconds, then put the plug back in and turn the TV on again

You could also try Hard resetting your Samsung TV which involves completely resetting everything on the TV including all your data. To do this, go “Settings”->”General”->”Reset” (The pin is 0000 by default) -> “Reset” -> “Ok”

Quick Recap

So, why is Samsung TV dialogue too quiet? There could be several reasons for it. For example, it may be an error in the device or simply a choice made by the creator of the show or movie you’re watching.

It could also be some faulty wiring. Thankfully, you don’t need to worry about the quiet dialogue for too long!

Just follow the steps above, and you can make your watching experience more enjoyable.
