What do the lights mean on the AirPods case?

Below are the different colors you might see on your AirPods case and what they mean.

Blue

The light on the AirPods case is not meant to be blue. If you do see a blue light on your AirPods case, it might be due to a fault. However, due to the popularity of AirPods, you can find many sellers of fake AirPods. If your AirPods case is blue or flashing blue, it would be a sign that they are fake.

Amber

If your AirPods are inside the case, an amber light means that the AirPods are charging.

If your AirPods are not in the case, orange means that the case is not fully charged and it has less than one full charge remaining. Meaning, if you try to charge your AirPods from 0% to 100%, there will not be enough power in the case to do it. When the case lights orange without the AirPods in, it means that you should charge the case.

If the case flashes amber, it means that the AirPods need to be paired again. You may need to factory reset them as well, but it would help to just try pairing them like normal first. Try leaving them in the case for a few minutes then hold down the setup button for 10 seconds or so.

Orange

If your AirPods case is orange with AirPods inside the case, it means that they are still charging. If the case is orange without the AirPods, it means that less than one full charge remains in the case and you should try to charge the case.

If the case flashes orange, it means that the AirPods need to be paired again.

White

If the AirPods case is flashing white, it means that the AirPods are ready to be paired via Bluetooth.

Red

Some people consider the amber light to be red.

If the AirPods case is red with the AirPods in, it would mean that the AirPods are still charging. If the AirPods are not inside the case, a red light means that the case has less than one full charge in it. If the case is flashing red, it would mean that the AirPods need to be paired again.

Green

If your AirPods are inside the case, green means that the AirPods are fully charged. If the AirPods are not inside the case, green means that the case is fully charged.
