What Causes White Lines Across A TV Screen?

Most often, white lines are caused by damage to your TV or faulty cables. In addition, as TVs get older, they may start losing some functionality.

The best way to eliminate the white lines across your TV is to troubleshoot what could be causing it.

A few common reasons why your TV displays white lines include water damage, screen damage, loose cables, and connecting to other devices.

Depending on your situation and the types of TV you have, some of these may not be applicable but should be ruled out if you want to fix the white lines across your TV.

The most typical reasons why your TV is displaying white lines across the screen:

The TV Screen Has Water Damage

If your television screen has been exposed to water, it will cause damage to the screen and other components in your TV.

For example, this can happen when cleaning your TV with a wet cloth or an accidental water spill.

If you wiped your TV screen while your TV was on, you might have caused your TV to short circuit, damaging the screen.

LED Screen Is Damaged

If your TV has been moved around, dropped, or accidentally knocked, you may have damaged the LED panel in your TV. If this panel is damaged, there will be issues with the image display.

TV Connector Cable Is Loose

The connector cables at the back of the TV can make white lines appear if they aren’t connected properly.

Ensure that all cables are connected; disconnecting and reconnecting cables are recommended to help solve this problem. If the cable is faulty, you’ll be able to tell by disconnecting and reconnecting it.

Damaged Or Broken T-Con Board

If the T-con board is damaged or broken, it severely impacts the quality of the image displayed, including having white lines across the screen.

To test if the t-con board is damaged, you can lightly tap on the back of your TV; if the lines disappear, you know it’s the T-con board.

If there are issues with the t-con board, it usually needs to be replaced with a new one.

Rust Damage In The LED Frame

If your LED frame is rusty due to moisture build-up over time, it can cause white lines to appear on your TV. The best way to solve this is to purchase another LED frame.

No Downtime For The TV

Having your TV on all the time can seriously damage its display. Besides your TV getting hot and overworked, the electrical components are working very hard.

They could get damaged with the constant usage. Just like computers and cellphones need to be switched off from time to time, your TV must also be switched off when you aren’t using it.

Connection To Other Devices

You may see white lines if your TV is connected to other devices like a laptop. This could be due to the cables connecting the two devices.

If you disconnect the devices from your tv and reconnect, you may resolve this issue. If not, you could either get another cable if it’s a faulty cable or avoid connecting other devices to your TV.

Dust And Debris

Dust and debris can quickly accumulate behind the screen of your TV. This can affect the display of your TV and the inner components too.

Dusting and cleaning your TV is the best way to prevent dirt from accumulating. If you do notice dust at the back of your TV and have experience with TVs, you could open it up and remove all the dust.

Damage Or Problems In The Graphic Hardware

Faulty or damaged graphics can display white lines across the screen. Some TVs are more likely to have this problem compared to others. While this isn’t the most common reason white lines are displayed across a TV, it should be considered.

How To Fix White Lines Across A TV Screen?

If your TV has recently displayed and started displaying white lines across the screen, there may be an easy solution to get it working again.
