Why are my AirPods no longer on find my iPhone?

The two most common reason why AirPods are no longer on find my iPhone is that they have not been in range of your iPhone for over 24 hours. When AirPods are not in range of your iPhone for over 24 hours they stop appearing on find my iPhone.

If your AirPods are out of power, your iPhone will not be able to detect them.

If your AirPods have been reset, your iPhone will not be able to detect them.

If your AirPods are in the case, they get turned off so your iPhone also will not be able to detect them. However, if you have a new generation AirPods case, the case itself should still appear on find my iPhone since the new cases are compatible with find my iPhone.

If you see the “No Location Found” message, this means you will not be able to play a sound that can help you locate your AirPods.

Here are a few steps you can try if you have possession of your AirPods but can’t see them in the Find My app.

Restart

There are times when you may not be able to see your AirPods in the Find My app because of a temporary glitch.

You can usually resolve this situation by restarting your iDevice while putting your AirPods in their Charging Case with the lid closed.

This should allow the device to find your AirPods.

Check the Find My app’s status with Apple.

There are rare occasions when the problem could be on Apple’s end. To check the status of the Find My app, visit Apple’s System Status webpage.

If the service shows a red or yellow symbol, it could indicate a systemwide outage. In that case, you will have to wait for Apple to fix it.

Use iCloud instead to find your AirPods

If you visit iCloud.com, you can sign in using your Apple ID. Then click on “Find iPhone.” If you’re on a mobile device, you should see the AirPods listed. On a computer, click on “All Devices,” and the AirPods should show up on the list.

Unpair and Re-pair AirPods

  • To unpair and re-pair your AirPods, follow these steps:
  • Place both AirPods in the charging case.
  • Open your iDevice settings and tap on Bluetooth.
  • Tap the blue “i” button next to the AirPods.
  • Tap “Forget This Device,” then tap “Forget Device.”
  • Now, pair your Airpods with your iDevice again.

If that does not work, try doing a full reset of the AirPods and then pair them again.

To reset AirPods:

  • Put them in the case
  • Open the lid
  • Hold the power button for 15 seconds until the light flashes orange then white

Update Firmware for AirPods

Just like other iDevices like the iPhone and iPad, AirPods also have updates that can fix bugs and provide new features. It’s possible that updating the firmware may resolve your issue. You only have to have your AirPods connected to an iDevice, and they should update automatically.

How to find your AirPods if it’s not showing up on find my iPhone?
