Why are my AirPods really loud?

As an owner of AirPods, I can understand how frustrating it can be when they suddenly seem really loud. After doing some research, I’ve come to share how I solved the issue, as well as some other potential solutions I discovered. In this blog post, I’m going to explain why my AirPods were really loud and how I (and others) were able to fix the problem.

Key Takeaways
1. AirPods can become too loud and can be fixed by turning down the volume on the device and app/website, updating software, or using the Reduce Loud Sounds feature.
2. Uneven audio balance between AirPods is often due to the Hearing settings on your device.
3. To correct audio imbalances, adjust the audio balance in your Accessibility settings to shift the balance away from the louder ear and towards the quieter one.

Why Are My Airpods So Loud?

The most obvious reason is that the volume is turned up on your phone or the website that you are using.

If the volume is too loud in your airpods, you can use a few features inside of your Apple device to lower the overall volume.

The first is the Reduce Loud Sounds feature which you can use to protect your hearing and lower the volume of loud noises.

Notification sounds can also be much louder than background listening and you can lower their volume completely by putting your phone into silent mode.

How To Get My Airpods To Be Quieter?

If you find that your airpods are too loud, there’s a few quick solutions that you can try to lower their overall volume.

Lowering volume for music is as easy as pressing the volume down button, but lowering the volume for notifications is a little bit more tricky.

You can also try resetting your AirPods since this often fixes most issues that they face.

You can always try putting your phone into silent mode so you can enjoy music without having loud notifications ringing in your ears.

You can also use the headphone safety feature to limit the overall volume of your airpods. This is a feature built into Apple devices that allows you to have an automatic limit to the volume of your headphones.

This is a great way to keep things quieter and protect your hearing.

Here’s how you can turn it on.

  1. Open Settings
  2. Tap “Sound and Haptics”
  3. Tap “Headphone Safety”
  4. Tap the “Reduce Loud Sounds” switch

Why Are My Airpods Pro So Loud?

AirPods pro were designed to fit better than the older model of airpods. This better fit also means that the volume is going to sound much louder.

If you’re finding that the volume on your AirPod pros are just too loud to handle, you might want to consider downgrading to traditional airpods which had a looser fit and a lower volume.

You can also use all of the same fix as we discussed in the section on lowering volume for airpods.

This includes reducing the loud sounds to 75 decibels or lower, putting your phone on silent mode to reduce allowed notification sounds, and ensuring that your device is fully updated.

Why Are My Airpods Still Loud On Low Volume?

Your airpods might be too loud when they’re on the lowest volume setting for a few different reasons.

One of the most common reasons is that you need to do a system update to ensure that there is a mismatch between the most current software and some old bugs that used to affect airpod volume.

You can also go into the sound and have text settings and turn on the Reduce Loud Sounds feature.

Software bugs were particularly a problem with the airpod pro. They would frequently cause the airpod pros to be too loud especially during phone calls.

This happened as the result of a technical problem for how Apple coded certain Bluetooth functionality for the airpod pro. This is why updating is so important to ensure that these problems can be quickly fixed.

Why Are My Airpods Loud On My Laptop?

There’s a few reasons why your airpods could be so loud on your laptop, but not other devices. The first thing to check is the volume settings on your laptop to ensure that they are at a comfortable listening level.

After that, you’re going to want to make sure that your laptop is compatible with airpods as some Windows laptops have issues connecting with airpods and maintaining a comfortable volume.

Why Are My Airpods Suddenly Loud?

Airpods can suddenly become too loud after pausing or when first connecting to music.

The most common reason for this is that the listening volume for your device was fine for listening without headphones, but it’s too high for listening with headphones.

Another common problem occurs when attempting to connect airpods to Android devices.

Solving the first problem is as easy as lowering the volume when you first connect your airpods. This will let you turn the volume up once you’ve got them in your ears and prevents any sudden loud noises.

To fix the problem with connecting airpods to Android devices, you need to enter your developer settings. You can get these by tapping on your Android building number seven times.

Once in your developer settings, you want to make sure that you disable the absolute volume control.

Why Is One Airpod Very Loud?

This is an uncommon issue, but some users have reported that one airpod is very loud while the other is very quiet.

This is often due to improper placement in the ears, debris such as earwax blocking one of the airpods, or an internal factory defect. It can also be caused by the Fearing settings on your device.

Apple puts a high priority on making sure that we have access to options that can improve accessibility and health.

This includes the health of our ears when we’re listening to music using airpods or other headphones. One of those settings could cause one airpod to become much louder than the other.

Here’s how you can check the settings and adjust the volume of airpods individually.

  1. Go to Settings
  2. Tap General
  3. Tap Accessibility
  4. Tap Hearing
  5. Adjust the audio balance slider to shift the balance away from the louder ear and towards the quieter ear

This might take some fine tuning, but you can overcome problems with your airpods having audio imbalances by adjusting this balance.
