Hi everyone! I’m sure you’re all familiar with the amazing AirPods. As an owner of the AirPods, I was recently looking for my lost AirPods and realized I couldn’t see the last location of them on my device. This got me wondering – why can’t I see the last location of my AirPods?
In this blog post, I’ll be exploring the reasons why this is the case, and what steps I can take to try and locate my lost AirPods and how you can do the same. So let’s dive in!
But what happens if you can’t see the last location of your AirPods?
The most likely reason why you cannot see the last location of your AirPods is that the Find My setting was not turned on before you lost them. Also, the location stops being displayed if the AirPods have not been in range for more than 24 hours.
However, there are some things you can do in order to prevent this from happening in the future.
The Find My setting must be turned on to locate lost AirPods.
The Find My feature can be enabled before losing the AirPods.
AirPods transmit their last location until they die.
Find My Device can be accessed through the iCloud website.
AirPods can be tracked within 10 meters/30 feet of a device.
AirPods cannot be tracked if reset or after 24 hours.
Why can’t I see the last location of my AirPods?
Your AirPods will transmit your last location until they die. So, if you turned on location finding for your AirPods, you should be able to see this last location transmitted when you bring up the Find My function.

If you can’t see the last location of your AirPods, it means that you didn’t turn on the Find My setting before you lost your AirPods. You could also see a previous location of your AirPods if they turned off and died. So, you could be at the “last location” but the AirPods might not be there.
Unfortunately, you can’t just turn the “Find My” function on after you’ve already lost a device, which is why it’s so important to turn on the Find My function on when you first get a device.
How do I see the last location of my AirPods?
To see the last location of your AirPods, you will need to go into the Find My iPhone/AirPods setting as follows:
- iPhone: Open Settings > tap “iCloud” and make sure “Find My iPhone” is turned on. You can also turn on “Find my AirPods.” Make sure your device is connected to the internet.
- iPad: Open Settings > tap “iCloud” and make sure “Find My iPhone” is turned on. You can also turn on “Find my AirPods.” Make sure your device is connected to the internet.
But again, you would need to have turned this on before you lost the AirPods. If you hadn’t turned it on before you lost the AirPods, you’ll need to find your AirPods the old-fashioned way.

Do AirPods have a tracker?
AirPods have a tracking ability that’s based on internet access and Bluetooth connectivity. Unfortunately, AirPods don’t have a GPS tracker. GPS trackers can operate even when a device no longer has power; the AirPods tracker is integrated into the system itself.
How Does “Find My” Work?
“Find My” works through a network of Apple devices. If your device is anywhere 10 meters or 30 feet around another Apple device, it can be found. But that also means that your device does need to be available via Bluetooth or internet to another device.
How can I find my AirPods when they’re offline?
When you are using your AirPods, there is an easy way to see the last known location of them on your iOS device. You can also get this information on any other iCloud-enabled device or on a Mac computer by accessing iCloud setting.
If you have lost them and they’re offline, the best thing you can do is contact the last place that you’ve seen and see if they’ve been turned in. Unfortunately, once they’re offline you can only see the last known location of the device.
How far can AirPods be tracked?
Your AirPods will show up in the “Find My iPhone” app on iOS devices, Macs running OS 10.12, and the web-based iCloud service, as long as it’s within 10 meters or around 30 feet from another device.
This could be very far away from you and your devices, however, because it’s any device. So, even if you lost your AirPods miles away, you might still be able to find them.
Can I track my AirPods if someone reset them?
You will be able to track your AirPods if you set up them on all of your devices (up to 5) and the devices are online. Your AirPods must also be in range, or near another device with Bluetooth enabled, to be visible. But if someone resets them, you’re out of luck. When you reset them, they’re no longer set up on any of your devices.
