Why do AirPods charge so fast?

If you have noticed that your AirPods or AirPods Pro have been charging very fast, this post will show you likely reasons why and if it is normal.

AirPods and AirPods Pro take 20 minutes to fully charge. If your AirPods are taking less than 20 minutes to fully charge, they might not actually be charging fully, the battery might be faulty or it could be because the battery has deteriorated slightly as a result of being used a lot.

Why do AirPods charge so fast?

If your AirPods are charging very fast (10 minutes or less) and the battery is draining fast but it says that your AirPods are being charged fully, it could be the case that the battery is faulty, broken or it might have deteriorated over time as you have used them a lot.

Do AirPods feature fast charging?

AirPods do not feature fast charging. Using anything above a 5w charger won’t charge the case any faster. However, it only takes an hour to charge the case and 20 minutes to charge the AirPods.

So, it is not really necessary for them to feature fast charging since they charge very quickly anyway. Also, charging them for 5 minutes gives 1 hour of listening time.

Is it normal for AirPods to charge fast?

It is normal for AirPods to charge in around 20 minutes. If your AirPods are charging faster than that, it might be the case that they are not actually charging fully, the battery might have deteriorated over time or the battery might be faulty.

If the battery also drains a lot faster than it is meant to, it would suggest that the battery is faulty.
