How to Connect a Samsung TV to Xfinity Wi-Fi

Samsung smart TVs come with many nifty features. Yet, to use most of these functions, you need a Wi-Fi connection. There are two main ways you can do this.

Take a look.

Through the Menu

The most efficient way of connecting to the internet is through the menu. Then, once you’re done, your TV will have full access to your internet connection.

Here’s how:

  1. Turn on your Samsung TV.
  2. Find and click the Menu button on your remote control.
  3. Navigate to the Network Settings.
  4. Choose the ‘Connect to a new network’ option.
  5. Select your Xfinity Wi-Fi.
  6. Enter your Wi-Fi password.
  7. Follow the connection instructions.

Through the Smart Hub

You can also connect your TV to the internet using the Smart Hub. We should mention that this method requires a bit more time than using the menu option. Yet, it’ll help you get to know your Samsung TV better.

  1. Click on the ‘Smart Hub’ button on your remote control.
  2. Scroll through the options and find the ‘Apps’ icon.
  3. In the search bar, type ‘network options.’
  4. Find your Xfinity Wi-Fi and click ‘Connect.’

Common Issues When Connecting Samsung TV to Wi-Fi

Even if you follow all the steps, sometimes, you still can’t connect to the internet. This could be due to a couple of reasons.

Router Issues

Even when you find your Wi-Fi on the Networks menu, there may be times when you still can’t connect to it. This is usually because of router issues, which means that your router may have trouble creating a new connection.

Every router has a specific range and number of allowed connections. So, you may be overloading your router.

Another problem is your TV is too far away from the router. So, the device isn’t able to pick up the signal.

Once you fix these issues, try connecting the TV again. If it’s still not connecting, try a quick reboot of your router.

If the problem persists, then it’s time to contact your internet provider.

TV Issues

If your Samsung TV software is outdated, the device can start acting up. For example, the screen can lag, it can become slow to respond, and it won’t be able to connect to any Wi-Fi networks.

Using LAN

The problem is that to download any updates, you need to be connected to the internet. To do this, you may need to use a LAN connection. This is when you plug your router directly into the TV using a LAN cable.

To install any updates on your TV, follow these steps:

  1. Click the menu button on your remote.
  2. Go to the Support tab.
  3. Find the Software Update icon.
  4. Download and install the latest update.
  5. Restart your TV.
  6. Try connecting to the Wi-Fi again.

Using a USB Flash Drive

If you don’t have a LAN cable, you can still download the updates. You can use a USB flash drive. Both methods will give you the same results, but using the USB drive will take a bit longer.

To get started, get yourself a USB flash drive, then follow these steps:

  1. Using a laptop, visit the Samsung Download Center.
  2. Select product type.
  3. In the search bar, enter your TV model number.
  4. Download the latest software update.
  5. After the file downloads, you can unzip the folder inside.
  6. Copy the folder to a USB flash drive.
  7. Connect the flash drive to your TV.
  8. Find the menu button on your remote.
  9. Go to the ‘Support’ tab.
  10. Click on ‘Update Now.’

Can’t Find Your Wi-Fi Network

Another problem when setting up an internet connection is not being able to find your Wi-Fi network. To solve this issue, you need to restart both your TV and the router.

Then, if that doesn’t work, use your Wi-Fi SSID. SSID, which stands for Service Set Identifier, is a number that’s unique to your router. It’s located on the back of the device.

Then, go back to the ‘Networks’ menu on your TV. You should find an option that lets you enter your Wi-Fi SSID manually.

Wrapping Up

Using your Samsung TV is a lot more fun with an internet connection. You get access to many fun and exciting features.

That’s why you need to learn how to connect a Samsung TV to Xfinity Wi-Fi. It can mean the difference between watching regular TV or opening up an endless world of entertainment.
