Why Does Samsung TV Keep Disconnecting From the Internet?

While Samsung TVs is one of the leading brands of flatscreen TVs, it still has a few bugs with Wi-Fi connection.

Here are some of the reasons why your Samsung TV keeps disconnecting from the internet and their potential solutions:

Incorrect Password

Something as simple as a changed Wi-Fi password can be one of the causes why your TV disconnects from the internet.

So, head to the Wireless Network Settings to check that you have the right password. You can also use a different device to confirm if the login credentials for the Wi-Fi network are correct.

Weak Wi-Fi Bandwidth

A glitching Wi-Fi connection could be a result of the Wi-Fi itself. Try restarting your Wi-Fi router by unplugging it from the power outlet. Wait for at least five seconds, then plug it back in.

If the problem persists, check your internet connection with a speed test app like Meteor.

If you have a poor connection, you can contact your network service provider to address the issue.

Distant Router

Long-range Wi-Fi routers can cover a lot of space indoors.

However, if your Samsung TV is too far from the Wi-Fi router or modem, it might be hard to establish a stable connection. So, you can try to adjust the distance between your Samsung TV and router.

Outdated TV Software

Without the latest software update, you’ll encounter a whole lot of bugs that could impact your Wi-Fi connection.

Open Settings on your Samsung TV, then choose Software Update. If your device isn’t up to date, a software update will be available, and you’ll be able to choose to download and install it.

Bluetooth Interference

Bluetooth interference is yet another possible reason why your Samsung TV keeps disconnecting from the internet.

You can turn off the Bluetooth connection on the TV itself. However, it can also be helpful to check for other sources of interference around the room.

Plus, you can set the router a bit closer to your Samsung TV so that the other Bluetooth devices don’t interfere with the Wi-Fi signal.

What Other Solutions Can Fix Samsung TV’s Connectivity?

If the above fixes didn’t resolve the issue, don’t lose all hope. There are other general tips and tricks that you can try.

Let’s take a closer look:

Restart the Samsung TV

Another easy fix is restarting your TV.

Press and hold the Power button on your Samsung TV remote until the Samsung logo appears and the screen blinks off. Once the TV turns back on again, try reconnecting to the Wi-Fi network.

You can also restart your Samsung TV by plugging it out of the power outlet. Then you can wait for a few minutes before plugging it back in.

Reset the Network

If you keep your Samsung TV software up to date, your device’s network configurations can also change. Therefore, resetting your network might solve the connection issue.

Using your Samsung TV remote, head to Settings, then go to General and select Network. Choose Reset Network and confirm the process.

In the end, you might need to restart your TV to finalize this step.

Perform a Factory Reset

Factory resetting your TV is one of the effective solutions to technical issues, but it comes with the cost of losing all your presets.

If you decide to go with this fix, head to Settings, then select Reset in the General menu. From there, you’ll need to enter your PIN to confirm the process and get the TV to restart automatically.

Try a hard reset

A hard reset involves completely reseting the TV to its factory defaults and your data will be erased.

To do this, do the following:

  1. Turn on the TV and press the “Home” button on the remote
  2. Go to “settings”
  3. Then click “general”
  4. Then click “reset”
  5. You must then enter a 4 digit pin number which is 0 0 0 0 by default
  6. Then click ”Yes” to reset the TV
  7. The TV will then turn off once it has finished resetting
  8. You can now turn the TV back on and set it up again

Can You Use a Samsung TV Without a Wi-Fi Connection?

Modern devices like your Samsung TV and Wi-Fi routers come with many incredible features. This usually includes both a wireless connectivity option and an Ethernet port.

Using an Ethernet cable can take the stress out of fixing wireless networks altogether. Plus, a wired hook-up can establish a more secure connection between your Samsung TV and Wi-Fi.

All you need to do is plug both ends of the Ethernet cable into the Ethernet ports located at the back of your devices.
