Why is There a Dark Shadow on My TCL TV?
The dark shadow on your TCL TV might be caused by one of three things including stuck pixels, burn-in, and a weak connection.
Stuck Pixels
LCD TVs can get stuck pixels when the visual information on a pixel doesn’t update and the color of that pixel can get stuck. Sometimes, these pixels can be revived by playing channels that often change the picture on the screen.
Burn-in
Burn-in can be caused by having a single image being on display for a long period of time which eventually gets “burnt” onto the screen.
Connection
TCL TVs can also have a problem where they display vertical “shadow”, usually when they have a weak connection. This is due to how TCL smart TVs display streaming content like movies and TV shows.
How to Get Rid of the Dark Shadow on My TCL TV?
There are a few quick steps to remove a dark shadow from a TCL TV.
Your first step should be to unplug any inputs and then turn the TV off for at least three hours.
Then you can try to play a YouTube, or other, video of just static to try to unstick the pixels. You can also try playing a normal TV channel for 8 hours to unstick the pixels.
Turn Your TV Off For a While
You can try to get rid of a black shadow on your TCL TV by just turning it off for a while. This helps to reset the pixels and remove any burn-in that could be causing your static.
Modern TVs can also get shadows from glitches which can be helped by a hard reset.
Set The TV To Play Static
LCD TVs can get one of two issues that can cause shadows.
One of them is burn-in which is when an image stays paused for too long and gets “burnt in” to the screen.
Then, there are also stuck pixels which is when single pixels, or groups of pixels, get stuck on a single color.
Turning your TV to static for a few hours can unstick these pixels and get them to display the right visual information.
Play a Normal Channel For Eight Hours
Leaving your TCL TV on a normal channel can also fix shadows, stuck pixels, and potentially even burn-in. You need to find a channel that is going to play a varied amount of visual information.
This means looking for a TV station that is going to play shows that have a lot of color and various levels of darkness.
You should avoid trying to play the same movie or show on loop as this could make the burn-in worse if the TV gets stuck while playing.
Factory reset the TV
If none of that works, it would also help to try factory resetting the settings of the TV. It could be the case that there is a setting on your TV that is causing the issue.
