Top Reasons Why YouTube Comments Won’t Load and How to Fix Them

Let’s dive right in with the top four culprits and how to tackle them, depending on your device.

  1. Your Device Has Internet Connection Issues

Let’s begin troubleshooting one of the most common causes of app or website malfunctions.

Slow or shaky internet can cause some website elements to not load properly. So, this might be the case for your YouTube comments.

How to Fix

Sometimes, a few temporary internet issues will cause problems in loading YouTube comments. In that case, you can reload the page to see if it solves the problem.

Another option is to conduct a speed test on your phone or browser. There are plenty of sites that only take a few minutes to check your internet speed and diagnose any problems.

If you’re running on WiFi, you can also restart your router/modem to fix any issues with your connection.

Simply turn off your device and the router/modem. Then, wait for a couple of minutes before restarting them. This simple trick might solve your internet problems and allow YouTube comments to load normally.

  1. Your iPhone or Android YouTube App Isn’t Updated

It might seem like such a hassle to keep your YouTube app constantly up to date. You might not even notice any difference between the previous and succeeding versions anyway, right?

Well, app updates are actually useful for getting rid of glitches, bugs, or lags that prevent YouTube from running smoothly on your device.

So, if your YouTube comments won’t load on your iPhone or Android, it might be time for an update.

How to Fix

To remove bugs and other issues from your YouTube app, go to the App Store or Play Store on your phone. Then, tap the search bar and type in “YouTube.”

Once you find the YouTube app on the results page, you’ll see a button right beside it. It either says Open or Update.

If the Update button is showing, go ahead and update your app. However, if the button says Open, then your app is already up to date, and this isn’t the culprit.

  1. You’re Not Logged in to Your Google Account

Normally, you’d be able to load and view comments on YouTube even if you’re signed out of your account.

However, there have been some reported instances where YouTube comments and other features didn’t show up when users weren’t logged in.

How to Fix

To make sure that you’re logged in to your account, open your YouTube and check the upper right-hand corner.

Tap the profile icon, and you’ll see your personal Google account. If you aren’t signed in, you’ll see a Sign In button instead.

If you’re already logged in and still can’t see the comments, try using a different Google account to see if this fixes the issue.

  1. There’s an Issue With Uncleared Cache, Cookies, and Data

Cache, cookies, and data on your app or browser can build up over time and lead to various technical issues.

To prevent these elements from interfering with YouTube comments and other features, clear them regularly.

How to Fix

There are several ways to refresh or clear your cache and data, depending on what device you’re using.

Google Chrome

Performing a hard refresh on your browser deletes your cache and reloads the YouTube website.

If you’re using Chrome on a Windows device, you can do this by pressing the Ctrl+F5 key while you’re on the YouTube page.

Safari

If you’re using Safari, just press the Command(⌘) + Option(⌥) + R key simultaneously to perform a hard refresh.

Android

For Android devices, clearing the YouTube app cache involves going to Settings, selecting Apps, and tapping on YouTube.

Then, click on Storage, Clear Data, and Clear Cache. Done!

iPhone

For iPhones, you can try offloading your YouTube app and then reinstalling it afterward. This functions as a reset button for the app.

To do this, go to Settings and tap on General. From there, you can click on iPhone Storage. Then, scroll down to find YouTube, then click on it to find the Offload App button.

After clicking on Offload App, you’ll see the button change to Reinstall App. Click this and check to see if it solves the issue.

Conclusion

It’s not unusual to experience technical difficulties while using the YouTube website or app. Most of the time, you can resolve these issues by checking your internet connection, logging in to your Google account, or clearing your cache and data.
