Can you break AirPods by playing music too loud?

As an owner of AirPods, I was recently frustrated to discover that my music was suddenly sounding muffled and distorted. After doing some research and testing, I realized the problem may be caused by playing the music too loud. I wanted to find out if this was indeed the case, so I decided to write this blog post to share my experience, as well as other solutions I’ve discovered, to answer the question: can you break AirPods by playing music too loud?

AirPods are designed to withstand high volumes. It is not likely that you will break your AirPods by playing music too loud.

Can you break AirPods by playing music too loud?

AirPods are designed to be able to withstand much higher volumes than someone would normally put them through. It is unlikely that you will break your AirPods by playing music too loud through them.

In addition, if you were to put your AirPods at a volume that might blow them out, it is actually your ears that you should be worrying about since loud volumes can do significant damage to your hearing.

It is strongly recommended to avoid putting your AirPods at high volumes in order to protect your hearing.

Can you break AirPods Pro by playing music too loud?

It is also the case that AirPod Pros are designed to withstand higher volumes than they would ordinarily be put through at max volume. It is not likely that you will break your AirPod Pros by listening to them at regular volumes.

As with regular AirPods, it is important to avoid listening to AirPod Pros at high volumes because it can damage your hearing and possibly cause tinnitus.

Does full volume damage AirPods?

Using AirPods at full volume should not damage the AirPods themselves because they are designed to withstand higher volumes than they would normally go through when at max volume.

However, you should not listen to AirPods at max volume so that you do not damage your own hearing or cause tinnitus.

Does the sound quality of AirPods degrade over time?

The sound quality of the AirPods should stay relatively high throughout their lifetime.

If you find that your AirPods start to sound worse, it is actually more likely to be due to ear wax build-up on the AirPods and you should just clean them.

In general, you want to listen to them at a minimum volume that is acceptable for you. Usually, anything above 60% of the max volume will be too much.

However, this will depend a lot on the app you are using and what you are listening to.
