As a Samsung TV owner, I was frustrated when I found out that the Google Play Store isn’t available on my TV. After doing some research and testing, I’m here to share how I solved the problem and the solutions I discovered.

The short answer is that it is possible to download the Google Play Store on Samsung TV, but not in a simple fashion.

You do not have the ability, due to the operating system of a Samsung Smart TV, to just download the Google Play Store without doing some extra manipulation and steps.

With the downloading of the Google Play Store “apk” file though on your computer, you can take steps to get it to work.  

How Can You Download the Google Play Store on Samsung TV?

You cannot download the Google Play Store to your Samsung TV without taking some additional steps.

In order to get the Google Play Store on your Samsung TV, you need a combination of the television, computer, a flash drive, and a little bit of knowledge.

With some patience thrown in, you can have the Samsung TV making great use of the Google Play Store in no time at all.

How to Install Google Play on Samsung TV?

What are some of the steps you need to take in order to get the Google Play Store installation going on your Samsung Smart TV?  

The first piece of the puzzle is you need to download the Google Play Store “app” to your computer. if you have a Mac, desktop, or laptop running Windows OS, you will be able to do this without any issue.

Once you have the file, you then need to get a USB flash drive. Get the file onto the USB flash drive. You should not need a very big flash drive to make this happen. The file for the Google Play Store is fairly tiny in size.

The easiest way to get the file from your computer to the USB flash drive is to copy it and then paste it into the flash drive folder.

Once you do that, you want to take the USB flash drive and connect it to the Samsung Smart TV. Just plug it into the USB port of the Samsung Smart TV to get this process going.

With the USB flash drive in the Samsung Smart TV, you can use the file browser that comes standard with the Samsung TV. You can then navigate out to find the USB flash drive folder.

Once you are there, select the Google Play Store file that is sitting there.

Once you identify the Google Play Store file, you can choose it and start up the installation process.

Once you finish the installation process, you will be able to locate the Google Play Store in the listing of all of the applications on the Samsung Smart TV.

In the event, that this process is not working or there is no ability to install the file, it is possible that the Google Play Store is just not compatible with your Samsung Smart TV.

Another problem you may run into is with the USB flash drive. You may have an area to insert a memory card or some other form of storage other than a USB flash drive.

Anything that can house the file will open you up to the ability to try to install the file for the Google Play Store.
