Why Won’t My Nintendo Switch Connect to My Samsung TV?

As an owner of a Nintendo Switch, I know all too well the frustration of trying to get my console to connect to my Samsung TV. After hours of research and testing, I’m here to share my experience and how I was finally able to get the two devices to work together.

You need to work to narrow your focus to find the root cause of the problem. Once you identify the root cause of the problem you can then rectify it to get the Nintendo Switch and Samsung TV playing nicely together.

What are the steps you should be taking to figure out why the Nintendo Switch will not connect to the Samsung TV?

You need to start with the Nintendo Switch itself to make sure that everything is functioning as you would expect.

You need to be sure the docking station of the Nintendo Switch is getting power and that there is an HDMI cable in the HDMI cable out a slot on the Nintendo Switch docking station.

Once you do this, dock the Nintendo Switch until the green light shows up on the docking station. The light will confirm there is a connection between the Nintendo Switch and the docking station.

Now that you are confident in the Nintendo Switch and the connection to the docking station, you then want to move to the HDMI cable.

The HDMI cable should run from the Nintendo Switch to the Samsung TV. Be sure there is a good connection between the two devices.

You then want to move to the Samsung TV. With the basis of the HDMI input you are using, switch the source on the Samsung TV to match that input.

If you are on the wrong input, you will not get a signal on your television from the Nintendo Switch to the Samsung TV. By switching to the right source, you will be able to get the picture up.

You want to troubleshoot all of these potential areas of concern. It could be that making sure the Nintendo Switch and the docking station are functioning, helps to establish the connection.

 You also may want to try to switch out the HDMI cable. By changing the HDMI cable you could repair the problem.

HDMI cables can wear out over time. By replacing the HDMI cable you could also replace the error with a working connection.

Finally, turn your attention to the Samsung TV itself. If you are confident you have the right source chosen and you have the input, try switching the input you are using.

Some HDMI inputs may die out over time. Switching to a different one again can help you to get to the root cause of the problem.

How to Get My Nintendo Switch to Connect to My Samsung TV?

To get your Nintendo Switch and your Samsung TV connected, you need to dock the Nintendo Switch in the Nintendo Switch Docking Station.

Dock the Switch console in the station. be sure there is the power to the docking station as well as an HDMI cable running out of it to the Samsung TV.

Plug the HDMI cable from the docking station into the back of the Samsung TV. Now, change the source on the Samsung TV to match the input you are using with the HDMI cable.

Now that you have done that, you should see a signal come through and the Nintendo Switch displaying on the Samsung TV.

In the event you run into issues, one thing you may want to play with is the resolution on the Nintendo Switch. In the settings, you can change the output resolution.

If you are trying to output at a resolution that is too high, you could end up breaking the connection to the Samsung TV. You must take steps to troubleshoot and get to the root cause of the problem to correct it go forward.
