To preserve AirPods battery life, always put them in their case, clean the case’s charging port, keep them out of direct sunlight, keep them dry, and only use one AirPod when necessary.

Can You Check the Battery Health of AirPods?

You cannot see the battery health of AirPods. All you can do is guess based on how long the batteries stay charged compared with how long they are supposed to stay charged. If you are currently getting a sufficient battery life out of your AirPods for your needs, the best thing to do would be to just continue as normal with them until the battery noticeably deteriorates.

You can check the battery level using the battery widget or the case, and you can get to it a few different ways.

Looking at the level will give you a clear indication of how long you can go before you have to charge your AirPods or AirPods Pro.

How to find out the battery health of AirPods

To check the battery health on your AirPods, you’ll first need to ensure that they are connected via Bluetooth.

Navigate to your iPhone’s Bluetooth settings and then enable it. Put your AirPods in their case, close the lid, and then move the case as close to your phone as you can get it.

Open the case and then give it a few seconds. You should see the battery health information pop up on your phone’s screen.

The screen will show you how much of a charge percentage you have on your AirPods themselves and the case. You can relax if the percentage is high and you see green.

How Do You Check Battery Health on AirPods Pro?

You can use the procedure and process mentioned above to check the battery health on your AirPods Pro. You can also install the “batteries” widget to get faster access to battery information when you need it.

To install the batteries widget, you’ll first need to swipe from left to right on your phone’s screen. When you get to the farthest page, you’ll need to scroll down and touch “Edit.”

You will then see a circular button that will lead you to where you can see all the available widgets you can get for your device. Scroll down until you see the “batteries” widget and then tap the little plus sign. Slide the batteries widget to the top and then tap and hold the three-bar menu icon on the right.

Drag it to the top of the widgets page and then tap done. You will now have the batteries widget, and you can use it to view the life on your phone, AirPods, and AirPods case.

How Long Should the AirPods Battery Last For?

The amount of time your AirPods battery lasts will depend on how frequently you use the devices, how well you take care of them, how you charge them, and so on. You can expect the AirPods battery to last for at least two years.

However, most professionals say that they can last three to six years since lithium-ion batteries are meant to last that long.

How Long Should a Charge Last on AirPods?

The time a single charge lasts depends on how long you charge the unit, how you use your AirPods, and which model you have.

Typically, first and second-generation AirPods will last five hours playing music on a full charge. They will last three hours on a single charge if you use them to talk on the phone. The AirPods Pro unit will give you 4.5 hours listening to music and 3.5 hours talking on the phone.

What’s incredibly cool about the AirPods is that a quick charge can go a long way. For example, you can get three hours out of a set of AirPods if you charge them for only 15 minutes.

What Are Signs That You Need New AirPods or Battery Service?

Eventually, you will see the life of your batteries diminish. Some of the most common indications and signs that you need a new AirPods or battery service are:

One AirPod Stops Working or Goes Quiet

One common occurrence is to experience issues with one AirPod when the battery runs its course. You might notice that one of your AirPods sounds a lot lower than the other one does in terms of volume.

You might also have one of the AirPods stop working altogether. When that happens, it might be time for you to take your unit to a technician.

AirPods Won’t Charge

You may also notice that your AirPods take longer than usual to charge. You should only have to charge your AirPods for 30 minutes to get a full charge.

A serious problem may be happening with the battery if you notice that your device isn’t fully charged, and you’ve gone well past 30 minutes.

That’s a solid indication that you have an issue with the battery. You may have to purchase a new set of AirPods or have an Apple technician perform a service on the battery you currently have. The service might be as costly as a new set of AirPods.

AirPods Won’t Hold a Charge

You may have a severe issue with your battery if it doesn’t seem as if the AirPods hold a charge for very long.

As stated before, you should get between three and five hours of usage from your AirPods. Getting much less than that amount might indicate that your battery is on its way out or has already gone.

No Lights

You may also notice that your battery indicator lights are not as bright as they used to be. They might be extremely dull even after you charge your unit. That could be a huge sign that your battery is Petering out.

Can You Check the Battery Health of AirPods on Android?

You can certainly check the battery health of your AirPods on an Android device. You can do that by visiting the Google Play store and downloading an application called “AirBattery.”

Once you install that application, you’ll be able to check your battery health the same way you would do it on an iPhone device.

Connect the AirPods via Bluetooth, close the case, put the phone near the device, and open the case. You will see the battery health widget pop up on your screen. You’ll then be able to keep up with your battery levels and get the most out of your AirPods.

How Can You Preserve AirPods Battery Life?

You can do a few simple steps to preserve the life of your AirPods battery. These are some ways to do that:

Always Put Them in Their Case

Ensure that you put your AirPods in their case when you aren’t using them. That will help you to keep them charged.

Clean the Case’s Charging Port

The charging port on the AirPods case can easily become contaminated with dust, dirt, and debris. Therefore, you should make it regular practice to clean it so that you don’t damage the batteries because of something avoidable.

Keep AirPods out of Direct Sunlight

Avoid placing your AirPods into the direct sunlight. Sunlight can damage your battery quickly. You also need to keep your AirPods out of any areas that are overly hot or cold.

Keep AirPods Dry

Getting your AirPods wet can cause way more problems than the battery life. Be very careful with your unit and ensure that they steer clear of regular water, rainwater, juices, and other wet items.

Only Use One AirPod

You may be able to preserve some battery life by not using both AirPods if you don’t have to. Only use one of them if your situation calls for only one.

Now you know a little more about your AirPods and how to check and preserve their battery life. Be sure to take some of the steps mentioned above and reference your user manual if you need further guidance.
